I grew up in Vancouver but lived overseas for 6 years, primarily in Spain. The experience of living in a different culture and learning a new language has enriched my life in numerous ways. Other enriching experiences include the creative arts, motherhood, nature therapy, swimming and literature. I went back to school later in life to obtain my Master’s in Counselling, many years after receiving my Bachelors degree in Fine Arts. These days I enjoy scrambling up the trails with my pooch, swimming, attending live music concerts, reading and re-reading my favourite 19 century authors and engaging in ongoing personal and professional development.
My counselling approach is rooted in the neurobiology of attachment and mindfulness-based cognitive behavioural approaches, such as Acceptance Commitment Therapy. I tailor my interventions to the needs of the client in each moment and am creative and practical in my helping style. I pay close attention to the quality of our interaction and I strive to create a space of warmth and support where you can begin to ease the burden of carrying your struggles alone.
